A CROWD of more than 200 were treated to a competitive friendly at Ledbury Rugby Club with no league fixture.

A Ledbury XV beat a Ledbury Farmers XV 35-26 at Ross Road in glorious sunshine.

Ledbury dominated the first half with tries for Matt Hallett, Welch, Dan Sewell and Harris taking them to a commanding lead of 22-7.

They increased their lead with a drop goal and a further try from Hallett.

The Farmers put up a fight with tries for Humphries and Whiting to get back into the match.

A final try by Hunter put Ledbury into a seemingly unassailable lead but with replacements joining the battle Farmers grabbed another at the death to keep the score respectable.

Tickets are available for the rugby club’s Gold Cup Day on March 15 and the sportsman’s dinner with rugby legend John Taylor on April 18.
