PEOPLETON Duathlon will be Worcester Triathlon Club’s season-opener for a 14th consecutive year on Sunday.

The popular early event sees a four and two-mile run sandwich an 18-mile cycling section.

A shorter option of two, nine and two miles makes it suitable for all with over 100 racers involved each year.

The club are to host two more races this year.

Worcester Triathlon will be on May 12 at the University of Worcester Lakeside Campus in Holt Heath.

Again there will be two distance options with a 750m open-water swim, 30km bike section and 5km run or 1,500m, 60km and 10km.

Droitwich Triathlon is on July 21 at Droitwich Leisure Centre consisting of a 400m pool swim, 20km bike section and 5km run.

As the shortest event over sprint distance it is ideal for beginners.

Entries for all events are open at entrycentral.com with 10 per cent of all registration fees going to St Richard’s Hospice.

The Worcester club host pool swimming on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays all year round plus open-water training on Wednesdays and Saturdays from May until September.

Other training includes track sessions at Nunnery Wood, strength and conditioning at the University of Worcester and bike and run training arranged via the club's Facebook group.

They welcome all abilities from beginners to seasoned athletes with members representing Great Britain.
