CALLUM Ferguson has rocketed into the top three of leading run-scorers in the 2018-2019 Big Bash in Australia.

The Worcestershire batsman has taken his run tally to 341 from 11 innings for Sydney Thunder at an average of 34.10.

Only the Hobart Hurricanes duo of D’Arcy Short (473) and Matthew Wade (387) are ahead of the 34-year-old.

Ferguson has clicked into top gear with successive scores of 52 versus Melbourne Renegades and 113 not out against Perth Scorchers.

It was his second T20 ton after having registered his first for the Rapids last summer against Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge when he scored 102 not out.

Ferguson has also chipped in with 47 against Adelaide Strikers and 42 in the first meeting with the Scorchers.

He has overtaken skipper Shane Watson (287) as the Thunder’s top run scorer.

Ferguson demonstrated similar form for the Rapids in 2018 with 390 runs in 10 innings to be their second highest scorer in the Vitality Blast including a match-winning 64 not out in the quarter-final win over Gloucestershire.

He will return to Blackfinch New Road on May 1 to play all formats of the game.
