JOINT-MANAGER Lee Hooper said his Malvern Town players were “buzzing” after claiming an impressive 3-1 win at fellow high-fliers Wednesfield.

Goals from Harry Clark, Ethan Moran and Matt Turner secured three points that extends Town’s unbeaten run to seven matches in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

“It was a great display against tough opponents,” said Hooper whose side climbed a place to fourth.

“The lads did everything asked of them to secure the win.

“It was only the second time that Wednesfield have lost at home this season, so it shows how difficult it is to come here and get anything.

“The lads worked hard for each other and battled really well from the outset.

"There were some impressive performances out there. We made good decisions, defended well when we had to and the lads are buzzing.

“There are some difficult fixtures coming up but we know that if we play like that we will be ready for the challenge.”

Malvern started well and opened the scoring the half-hour mark when Moran got to the byline and crossed to Clark who fired home.

Town had further chances before the interval with Louis Loader blasting wide and high and Aaron Griffiths sending a curling effort just over the bar.

Adam Sauntson came to Malvern’s rescue on 55 minutes when he cleared a Wednesfield free-kick off the line.

A minute later Town were awarded a penalty after Moran was brought down after surging into the box. Moran netted the spot-kick to put his side 2-0 in front.

The visitors added a third on 64 minutes when Clarke sprinted down the left and found Turner who applied the finish.

Wednesfield gave themselves a glimmer of hope when they forced the ball in following a corner.

But as the players celebrated Fabien Facey received a second yellow card for allegedly lashing out at Town keeper Charlie Weaver.

The final 20 minutes proved frenetic but the defence stayed strong and in the closing moments Clark, Moran and Clift all had snap chances.

Hooper added: “Both Dene and I must say how pleased we were with the support that we received.

“The backing was outstanding and it certainly helped to drive us on and get the victory.”
