MALVERN Town full-back Curtis Smith hopes to make the most of his second shot at international recognition at the final trials for England Schoolboys tomorrow (Saturday).
Bromsgrove-based Smith, who has appeared nine times for Town’s first team this season, heads to Stafford Town to play in two of four shortened games for a place in the under-18s squad.
Selectors will run the rule over regionalised sides in semi-finals, a final and third-place play-off for matches against home nations in the Centenary Shield with one of England’s home matches taking place at Redditch United.
Smith has been put forward by Worcestershire coach and Malvern under-18s manager Stewart Watkins.
“Curt has been through trials already to get this far,” said Watkins.
“He fell at this hurdle last year and is desperate to cement his place this time round. It would be a massive honour for him to get through.”
