HANLEY Swan ended a run of five games without a win by thrashing Southside Star 6-3 in Cheltenham League Division One.

But the ninth-placed villagers had to hit back in the second half from 2-0 down, finally getting the breaks they deserved.

Hanley started well but Southside broke away to open the scoring on 10 minutes.

The hosts continued to play the better passing football with Tom Morris and Kevin Moore having chances but Southside again broke to go 2-0 up by half-time.

The second half started well for Hanley and it was not long before Luke Duffett pulled a goal back with a curling shot into the top corner.

Minutes later Ash Bloore crossed for Morris to head in the equaliser.

Hanley went in search of the lead and midway through the half Bloore got on the end of a cross to head the ball home.

Morris scored a second with another well-taken header.

He completed his hat-trick after a fine run by Ash Robinson who beat several defenders in the box before crossing.

Morris got his fourth following good work from Bloore who crossed for a tap-in.

Southside did not give up and broke to score with minutes remaining.
