BARNARDS Green Cricket Club have presented their end-of-season awards.

The first XI finished seventh in Birmingham League Division One to secure their position in the new 24-team competition next year.

Green, led by Ryan Tongue, made the semi-finals of the league's T20 Challenge Cup.

They used 28 players which included debuts for junior players including Ben Brommage, Rehaan Edavalath, Rob Wilson, Harvey Smedley and George White.

For the newcomers, Adam Wiffen scored 385 runs, Mahaz Ahmaed made valuable contributions with the bat and took wickets and Josh Blunt played every game with 27 wickets.

Tongue was leading run-scorer with 1,005 in total for the club while George Rhodes managed 486 and Phil Harris 308. Rhodes and Harris took 37 wickets.

The second XI finished eighth in Division Two South with the average age under 20 for most games.

Captain Andy Wheeler scored 601 runs while George Blannin, Wilson and Brommage contributed over 200 each.

Monzur Ahmed claimed 31 wickets and Ben Sutton 23.

The midweek XI won the Dowdeswell Cup to make it three trophies in as many seasons.

Green's junior teams reached four finals days in a successful season for the section.

The under 15s topped their league with 42 points and remained unbeaten as did the under nines in winning their eight-a-side pairs competition.
