MATT Hallett scored a hat-trick and set up two other tries in Ledbury’s 34-7 victory over Woodrush at Ross Road.

A chip over the Woodrush backs saw Hallett put Jamie Rayfield over for the opening unconverted try in the Midlands Three West (South) clash.

Rayfield then returned the favour as his cross-field kick found Hallett who darted in under the posts.

One of the rare Woodrush back-line attacks fell apart as the ball was spilt and Hallett was there to hack on and score once more.

Leading 17-0 at half-time, Ledbury did suffered a blow when Rayfield was forced off with an injury.

But another mistake from Woodrush led to a try as a kick was charged down and Cam Hunter was one hand to touch down. Stand-in fly-half Ryan Fourie added the extras.

Ledbury continued to harry the visitors and another clearance kick was charged down allowing Hallett to pounce and complete his treble.

Woodrush could not cope with Hallett who weaved his way through before putting Jake Dyer over for a fine try.

Woodrush did restore some dignity with a pushover maul on the stroke of full-time for their only score.

Third-placed Ledbury who are one point behind leaders Shipston-on-Stour visit Alcester on Saturday (3pm).
