KNOCKOUT champions have been crowned at The Worcestershire.

The highlight was the Parker Cup, a match-play competition played off scratch, where Dave Marshall took on club champion Steven Lane over 36 holes and won on the last.

The Malvern Cup saw Mark Read and Phil Birch beaten by Cuth McDowell and Mark Roberts on the 15th hole 4&3.

The ladies' tankard foursomes was hard-fought with Jill Brierly and Fiona Lucas winning 3&1 over Chris Urry and Julie Saunders.

Bronze and silver honours went to Jill Brierly and Jackie Marks respectively.

Windy conditions did not dampen the ladies' enjoyment of a Florida scramble.

Eight of the 10 teams returned scores under par with the best from Urry, Jenny Musson, Pauline Savage and Christine Goody with 64.7 nett.

The top-three finishers had 10 birdies between them with the par-four 11th the most popular.

Diane Meakin, Joan Herbert, Penny Stevenson and Liz Gordon pipped Sandra Schofield, Brenda Jones, Liz Pool and Jane Quick on countback with a six-under-par back nine.

The seniors mixed open drew 120 entrants from 26 clubs.

The four-ball mixed better-ball competition saw one man's and one lady's score to count on each hole.

Winners with a stableford score of 85 points were Kevin Ashbridge, Penny Ashbridge, Denise Clayson (Tewkesbury Park) and Simon Clayson (The Worcestershire).

Second with 84 were home players Andy Turner, Pool, Graham Hill and Evelyn Hill from club-mates Jim Wilde, Di Wilde, Colin Jones and Jenny Jones on 83.

The best visitors' team with 81 were Richard Broadbridge, Irene Hawkes, Jim Titley and Jan Titley from Broadway.

The seniors' tankards round four was won by Peter Lacey with 39 stableford points.

Playing off a handicap of 21, his score was boosted by five gross pars and he finished three clear of Paul Butler and Peter Kirton.
