MALVERN Town scored five away goals for the second game in a week with a 5-0 win at a rain-soaked Dudley Sports.

Town started the West Midlands League Premier Division game with purpose and an early cross from Peter Smith picked out Matt Fusco who was just off target with his effort.

Another teasing ball in from Smith was just too far ahead of Harry Clark in the middle.

Malvern looked to get the ball down and play at every opportunity despite the tricky surface.

The hosts had their first effort at goal just before the half-hour when a low Godwill Moraka free-kick was well watched by Charlie Weaver.

Louis Loader's effort was spilled by the keeper on 36 minutes before Fusco saw his attempt blocked in front of goal.

Malvern finally made the breakthrough just before half-time when a probing corner was not properly dealt with and the ball found its way into the net off a home defender from Loader.

It did not take long after the restart for Town to double their advantage when Clark found Loader whose strike from distance found its way through the unfortunate keeper.

On 49 minutes it became 3-0 as a strike from distance was blocked by the keeper and as Fusco kept the ball alive he was denied by a block as Adam Sauntson tucked away the resulting chance.

Weaver was alert to deny Dudley's Emile Beckford and Abdul Ishola.

With Loader and Clark forced off through injury, Daniel Elwell dragged wide for the hosts.

But Town added a fourth goal on 81 minutes when Ben Lane guided the ball home from a tight angle after a spell of pressure.

Five minutes later it was 5-0 as Phil Harris, playing his first game of the season, found Matt Turner whose cross was met by a diving header from Joshua Hunt.

Malvern went up to fourth in the table and host second-placed Tividale on Saturday (3pm).

Co-manager Lee Hooper said: “The lads did really well.

“We bossed it from start to finish. It was a pleasing performance where we adapted well to the conditions and worked hard.

“The goals are flowing at the moment but we are also delighted with the clean sheet because it is something we have been working on.

“We’re building on that momentum now and things are clicking into place for us.

“It’s going to be a big game against Tividale. It’s come at a good time for us as the lads are playing with real confidence and belief.

“We’re delighted with where we’re at right now and are already looking forward to the challenge of the next game.”
