KIDDERMINSTER’S six-wicket success at Tamworth ensured they will be promoted back into the Birmingham Cricket League Premier Division at the first time of asking.

They only need six more points from their last two games to clinch the Division One title.

Apart from Stuart Burrows (79) and skipper Ben Maddox (35 not out), none of the Tamworth batsmen found it easy against Kidderminster seamers Liam Weston (4-20) and Chris Steele (3-35).

Their total of 172 proved easy pickings for the champions-elect with 58no from Neil Pinner.

Brockhampton fell to the foot of the table, replacing Wellington who beat them by four wickets.

Malvern’s Barnards Green won by 58 runs at Halesowen with skipper Ryan Tongue scoring 135no from 146 balls in their 241-7.

Despite 44 from Jamie Harris and 41 from ex-Worcestershire player Alexei Kervezee, Halesowen fell well short on 183 all out with 4-39 for Mahaaz Ahmed and 3-16 for Raheem Edavalath.

Bromsgrove lost by eight wickets to Oswestry as they were bowled out for 169 despite the efforts of openers Ashley Newfield (49) and Jayden Levitt (40).

Premier Division leaders Knowle and Dorridge enjoyed a comfortable five-wicket win at relegation-threatened Ombersley.

Liam Gwynne hit 88 in Ombersley’s 235-7 with George Worker taking 3-42.

In reply, Knowle, led by a century from Alex Phillips (101) and 62 from 43 balls by Oliver Haley, cruised to victory with more than five overs to spare.

Barnt Green continued to climb the table after their third win in successive games but are not completely out of danger.

Pershore lost by four wickets to high-flying C&R Hawks in Division Two.

An opening stand of 100 between Liam Ridings (54) and Charlie Norton (41) promised a decent total but when they were out Pershore fell away to 207 all out with 3-29 for Iftikhar Khan and 3-39 for Omar Ali.

Omar then smashed 112 from 79 balls as Hawks cruised to a four-wicket win with more than 16 overs to spare.

Saqib Akbar added an unbeaten 42 while William Palmer claimed 3-15 and Taylor Pugh 3-54.

Astwood Bank earned a rare but welcome success with a 27-run win at Wombourne after they dismissed the hosts for 215 in pursuit of 242.

Old Elizabethans replaced Whitchurch at the bottom of Division Three after a 112-run defeat.

The Worcester side were 165 all out in response to Whitchurch’s 277-7.

Kristen Ali (84) and Ijaz Yousaf (77) were the top batsmen for the home team while Alex Bastable took 3-54.

OEs needed 52 from skipper Jamie Boyle to give them two batting points as Sam Ellis claimed 4-51.

Redditch were dismissed for 196 at Newport in a six-wicket defeat.
