MALVERN Anglers fished for the John Perks Trophy on the River Avon at Cropthorne.
On a hot, sunny day with temperatures reaching 30 degrees and low river conditions, fishing was anticipated to be challenging.
However, results turned out to be better than expected.
Pete Roberts used legered worm and sweetcorn to tempt four bream including one of about 4lb to finish with a winning weight of 8lb 12oz 0dr.
Veteran Dick Oakley used swim feeder and maggots to catch a number of chub up to about 1lb from under the far bank of his swim to finish second with 6-12.
But he lost a couple of good-sized fish that may have won him the match.
A bream of about 3lb featured in third-placed Dan Cooper’s weight of 5-10.
Nigel Bayliss managed 4-6, Chris Loveridge 4-4, Graham Rees 2-6 and John Shaw 1-12.
