STEVE Warren won Malvern Anglers’ fourth winter league match on Ash pool at Broadheath Fishery.
A mild January day attracted a good turnout and all were optimistic that the conditions would bring good catches.
However, the fishing turned out to be disappointing with the match dominated by a few good-sized carp up to 10lb but little else to make up the weights.
Leading the way, Warren tried a variety of baits on ledger tactics to attract six carp to build up his winning weight of 30lb 8oz 0dr.
Second-placed John Gill used pole tactics to catch three carp in his 16-14-0 while Lee Harman and Richard Webster had two carp each for 15-12-0 and 13-8-0 respectively.
Graham Rees caught 13-7, Nigel Bayliss 12-15, John Shaw 8-2, Chris Loveridge 8-1, Ken Yates 8-0 and Ian Goddard 7-1.
