MALVERN'S Carrick Hill has been offered a two-year scholarship with Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.

The 15-year-old has played for the West Midlands outfit since the age of nine and now turns out for the under 16s age group.

Centre-half Hill enjoyed a successful WBA tour of Thailand this year when they won the country’s prestigious cup tournament involving the best teams from the home nation.

The former Northleigh Primary School and The Chase School pupil regularly plays against category one league clubs such as Manchester City.

His parents Steven and Suzanne said: "We are extremely proud of what Carrick has achieved over the last six years and he has sacrificed a great deal to get this far.

"Since he was aged 14 he moved away from home to live with a host family and be schooled up at Sandwell Academy so he was closer to the club's training facilities.

"He is now pushing to the next level to earn himself a professional contract over the years ahead."
