THE EGGS turned out at The Worcestershire golf course at Malvern Wells to play the 6th annual Bilko Brookes Shield.

This event is in memory of their sadly missed friend Michael Bilko' Brookes, and once again a good days golf was had and several ciders drank in memory of the big man.

Current holder Freddy Finch lead the first four ball out but couldn't repeat last years performance and limped home with 23 points.

In the same four ball, original EGG and visiting Devonian Kerpit Barnes put in an impressive round of 35 points, in humid and difficult conditions, and topped the leader board until Mark Tipton put in a consistent round to take the title on countback.

A fine event to win at an equally fine Malvern course, in third place Andy Mcabe, who was close with 33 points, but way ahead of Jason Lloyd who struggled home last with 19 points and no repeat of his former hole-in-one exploits on the same course previously.

EGGS captain Mark Haffield can hardly be inspired with his total of 24 points so close to his looming EGGS Ryder Cup battle with vice-captain Chris Oldem over a long weekend at Okehampton next month, the latter again playing a steady round in the build up to the big team event.

Graham Ward took the cider for best guest with 34 points whilst Mick Allton wasn't so good, but was pleased to win some cider at the end of his long slog.

Thanks to all the EGG members, who are also members at The Worcestershire, who chipped-in for the cash prizes.

EGGS next event is Tewkesbury Park on Friday, June 29, followed by the Ryder Cup in Okehampton on the weekend of July 13 when Mark Haffield will be looking to avoid following Duncan McKerracher into history as the only captain never to win the cup, a strong possibility on current form.
