MALVERN continued their Worcestershire League Division One season with a narrow 3½-2½ win over leaders Worcester City.
Five games were drawn with solid positional play from Ian Clarke, John Knee and Matthew Jordan, careful defence from Geoffrey Herbert and desperate scrambling from Brian Turner.
The highlight of the match was a fine win from Leigh Canham, who opened the position with a temporary piece sacrifice then followed up with a decisive attack on his opponent’s king.
