TALENTED Malvern 16-year-old Georgia Hennessy has been awarded a bursary from the Jaguar Academy of Sport fund.

The England under 19s cricketer received the boost at London’s Pestana Hotel and enjoyed her first mentoring and education programme session which focused on media training and was led by Dame Kelly Holmes. Hennessy welcomed tips from other sporting aces, including Mark Foster, Anna Hemmings, Sarah Winkless, Nick Gillingham, Toby Garbett and Rachel Yankey.

She also took part in a question and answer with academy patron Sir Chris Hoy who shared his experience and advice.

Hennessy started with Barnards Green before playing for Worcestershire juniors and women and she now trains regularly at Loughborough University.

The teenager hopes to make the England Academy within the next 12 months before going on to full international honours. The award will help towards her kit costs and travelling expenses.
