POOLBROOK Dynamos and Scuttling Gang have been relegated from Paperstation Malvern League Division One with one match left.

But the top of the table is still strongly contested with three teams only two points apart.

CSSC Ramblers lead on 54 points with three matches to play and holders Broadheath Belters two points behind but with a game in hand.

Still in contention are Manor Park Cavaliers but they are a long shot for the title.

Division Two is also closerun with three teams in contention and Poolbrook Rangers, with another threepoint win, currently hold the advantage.

They are level on points with Manor Park Travellers but have one match in hand.

Tony Hughes was the only CSSC Nomads player to win a set against Rangers with Matt Lang and Richard Cullis taking three singles each and Nick Haggar two and the doubles with Lang.

Nomads managed two points against Devils when Geoff Davies and Hughes won two each and Arian Fray one.

Devils were led by the unbeaten Paul Lythgoe and he also took the doubles with Liz Hallam who added a singles success.

Third-placed YMCA Vulcans had another strong victory, retaining their outside chances of topping the division.

Against X-Police, John Cawthra and Richard Bennett claimed their singles but could not beat Steve Mulka and Alan Preece in a fine doubles contest.

Mulka also won one singles which gave them a point from the evening and left Vulcans six points behind the top two teams with two games in hand.

Abbeydowne could only get two players and were in difficulties against Ripple from the start.

Although Len Hitchman took a game off two of his opponents, he could not bag a win as Pete Nash, Peter Quy and Roger Davies were the successful trio.
