UNIVERSITY of Worcester student, Callie Halliday, has made a flying start to her 2013 canoe slalom season.
After a solid performance earlier in the month in North Wales, followed by some tricky water at Shepperton, the 19-year-old headed north to Scotland for the competition in Grantully.
In extremely cold conditions, Halliday raced at her best, with two clear runs and a good time.
Her efforts were rewarded with a wild card, which qualifies her to try for a place on the under 23s or senior GB team.
The GB selections will take place over two weekends.
The first is at the National White Water Centre in Nottingham and the second at the Olympic white-water course at Lee Valley.
Halliday, from Malvern, is currently ranked seventh in Great Britain in women’s C1 canoe slalom.
