LEDBURY Lions and Ledbury Rovers played out a hard-fought 5-5 draw in Paperstation Malvern League Division One.

Steve Meredith was in fine form for Lions, winning his three singles, and Jim Ahern also triumphed twice.

Rovers’ Ady Marshall claimed a double and the doubles with Bob Marshall who also claimed a singles victory along with Bryan Farr.

Holders Broadheath Belters moved up to third in the table following a 10-0 demolition of Scuttling Gang.

Michael Siket, Brett Brining and John Stalker were all unbeaten with no sets requiring extra games.

Manor Park Cavaliers recorded their fourth victory in five matches as they defeated Pterodactyl Old Boys 8-2.

Joe Higgs and Mike Keeley both won their three singles and the doubles, while Matt Hodges beat Matt White in straight games.

Dave White and Steve Glazzard both won once for Old Boys to claim their point.

Old Boys were also beaten 6-4 by Ledbury Lions as Dave White bagged three singles and teamed up with Glazzard to take the doubles.

Lions’ Chris Sabourin, Meredith and Richard Smith all won twice to secure three points.

Near the bottom of the table, Crackpots ‘E’ overcame Poolbrook Dynamos 6-4 with Richard Maddrell claiming his three singles and the doubles with Dave Steen.

Dynamos’ Stan Mason took two singles with Tom James and John Phillips both winning once.

In Division Two, Devils were whitewashed 10-0 by YMCA Vulcans but put up a good effort as only four sets were straight wins.

Liz Hallam fought hard against Ray Griffiths and Richard Bennett with Peter Harding putting up a good show against John Cawthra.

Roy Holland won one for Abbeydowne but Robert Weston and Geoff Burford secured trebles and Ewan Gear two for Poolbrook Panthers in a 9-1 success.

James Palmer and Bob Rhodes triumphed once for Crackpots ‘D’ but Rangers took the rest of their wins through Richard Cullis (3), Nick Haggar (2) and Alasdair Maxwell-Stewart (2) in an 8-2 triumph.

Manor Park Travellers’ Martin Snee won three and the doubles with his daughter Zoe, while Ken Hipwell claimed two singles in a 6-4 triumph over leaders Ripple, who replied through Pete Nash (2), Roger Davies and Mark Davies.
