A PAIR of women who travelled to a Malvern shop and attempted to steal £750 worth of clothes are among the notable cases heard at Worcester Magistrates Court this week.

Nicola Page and Lucy Smith both appeared before magistrates this week where they admitted the attempted thefts.

Page, 34, appeared before magistrates charged with attempting to steal the clothes from Marks and Spencer in the town on April 24 this year.

She was also accused of alcohol of unknown value from Waitrose in the town.

She had originally denied the alcohol theft charge, but changed her plea to guilty on June 14 this year.

Page, of Cowper Road, Cheltenham, admitted attempting to steal the clothes, and she was remanded on bail until August 19 this year for a pre-sentencing report to be prepared. Her bail conditions state she must live and sleep at her address in Cowper Road every night until that date.

Lucy Smith was also in court on June 14 charged with attempting to steal £750 worth of clothes from Marks and Spencer on the same day as Page.

The 25 year-old, of Lintworth Road, Bishops Cleeve, had originally pleaded not guilty to the charge, but changed her plea to guilty and was sentenced on June 14.

Magistrates gave Smith a 12-month conditional discharge, as well as a £22 victim surcharge and court costs of £200.

A Worcester woman who resisted a police officer has been fined.

68 year-old Hilda Cushing, of Hamble Close, Worcester, appeared before magistrates on June 14 where she admitted resisting PC Handley in carrying out his duties in the city on November 30 last year.

She had originally pleaded not guilty but changed her plea to guilty and was fined £120, along with a £34 victim surcharge and court costs of £200.
