MULTI-MILLION-POUND plans to completely transform part of the city centre and create a 'northern quarter' is very exciting and welcome news indeed.

The area of the city centre - very much the gateway for many visitors travelling to Worcester, at least by train - has been slowly falling into disrepair for years and it is, regrettably, very sad to look at at the moment.

This huge boost, pending government approval and money, will completely transform the area and give it a much-needed facelift.

Fingers crossed the council is successful in its bid for the government money and the big and bold ideas for the area can come to fruition.

The plans have a huge amount of potential and are without a doubt something to get excited about as a vision for the future and of post-coronavirus Worcester.

These plans coupled with the other transformative work taking place at the Arches means the northern side of the city centre will be a very different place in a few years.

It has been a long time coming but hopefully this part of the city centre will finally get its much-needed facelift.
