A POLICE officer charged with causing a man’s death through dangerous driving will go on trial in Worcester next month.

PC Jamie Holloway was charged after a 53 year old man died on the A449 in 2018.

The man suffered multiple injuries after his car was involved in a crash with a police car responding to an emergency call on the A449, from Worcester to Stourport on June 11 that year.

PC Holloway appeared before Kidderminster magistrates yesterday where he was told his trial will start at Worcester Crown Court on August 12.

The case comes after the crash was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) which carried out an independent investigation into the matter.

The IOPC subsequently referred the case to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), who charged PC Jamie Holloway.

Speaking after PC Holloway was charged, West Mercia Police assistant chief constable Rachel Jones, said: "Our thoughts continue to remain with the family and friends of the man involved at what continues to be an extremely upsetting and difficult time.

"As court proceedings are now underway, it would be inappropriate for us to make any further comment regarding the circumstances."
