BROMSGROVE Society is using an online platform to hold three 'Summer Season Talks'.

On three consecutive Wednesdays in July, beginning on the 1st at 2.30pm, Bromsgrove Society is hosting a free afternoon talk online using the Zoom platform.

The talks will cover aspects of local history, how to get involved in our local heritage and will last for around an hour.

On July 1 at 2.30pm, 'The History of Perry Hall' with Julian Hunt will prove there is more to Perry Hall than the Housmans.

Bromsgrove historian Hunt will introduce listeners to Roger Lowe, the leading Royalist at the time of the Civil War, Benjamin Humphrys, the 18th century linen manufacturer, and John Adams, worsted manufacturer whose sister married a Housman.

He will attempt to dispel some myths about the picturesque ruins to the south east of the house, and will tell listeners how Perry Hall came to be a hotel.

On July 8 at 2.30pm, there will be a 'Tracing Your Ancestors in Worcestershire' talk with Mike Sharpe.

Mike is a professional genealogist, researcher and writer with a passion for unearthing the past and telling a good story.

His talk will provide an introduction to tracing family history within the historic boundaries of Worcestershire.

Then, on July 15 at 2.30pm, a talk entitled 'The Bromsgrove Guild and Where to See Their Work - When the Lockdown is Over!' will be led by Quintin Watt.

Former Head of History at South Bromsgrove High School and former chairman of the Bromsgrove Society Local History Group, Watt will tell listeners about the well-respected Bromsgrove Guild.

The Bromsgrove Society Summer Season online talks are open to all and free of charge.

Those interested in attending the online talks are asked to register their interest in advance at www.bsoc.co.uk

A link to join the talk online will be sent by email, to those registered, 48 hours before the talk date.
