I HOPE that whoever started the fire at St John’s Cemetery – and it looks like the blaze was started intentionally – reads today’s front page story about the consequences of their actions.
What may have been just ‘a bit of fun’ for the arsonist has caused significant distress for a family who have seen the grave of their beloved grandfather severely damaged by the fire.
All too often, vandals and firestarters fail to consider the consequences of their behaviour before they destroy something. Hopefully today’s story of the impact on the grieving family will in turn have an impact on whoever started the cemetery fire, and make them think ‘What if someone had done that to my grandfather or grandmother’s grave?’

It’s great to see so many of the city’s shops set to re-open this Monday. It’s fair to say most of us have missed our city’s stores and we hope they are able to bounce back from weeks of not being able to trade.
