MORE and more shops and takeaways are starting to reopen to the public after weeks of Covid-19 disruption.

Businesses have been forced to adapt after lockdown measures saw only a limited number of shops able to open since March.

During lockdown Be The Change, the Cornmarket vegan cafe, offered delivery of takeaway only, but has now resumed opening of its shop.

To adapt to social distancing guidelines, customers are not able to go into the cafe - run by husband and wife team Anthony and Zoe Chersher - and can only order and collect at the door.

Mr Chersher said: “We have found a way to adapt, and trading has been going well. We are the only place like it that I’m aware of where you can pick up a coffee.

"I think if we would have tried this before lockdown, we would have had to police it. But as it's now, people know the drill and social distance in the queue.”

Meanwhile, Five Guys restaurant in Cathedral Square reopened yesterday - but only for delivery and click and collect orders. For customers ordering through its click and collect service, they are prompted to pay for their order, prior to visiting the store, where social distancing measures are in place to ensure their safety and that of staff. The burger chain’s reopening was welcomed by many burger lovers on our social media channels.

Danielle Mcgarrity said: “I’ve been craving their milkshakes.”

And the Orchard Cafe, based at the Worcester Countryside Centre at Worcester Woods, has also posted to social media that it will be opening as a takeaway from June 1.

But there was disappointment for fast food lovers as McDonald’s Worcester stores are still yet to reopen, despite the chain opening more restaurants and drive-thrus yesterday.
