COMMUTERS appear to still be staying at home rather than taking the train, despite 70 per cent of rail services being reinstated.

Trains between Hereford and Birmingham, which had been suspended during the coronavirus crisis had few passengers on, with one service through Worcester Foregate Street on Monday evening (May 18) being seen almost entirely empty.

It appears even though the trains are back on, many are continuing to work from home rather than travel to work.

People who do travel are being urged to follow government advice and wear face coverings while on the train.

According to West Midlands Railway, other measures such as one way systems are being introduced and passengers are being encouraged to avoid travelling at peak times.

Train users are also advised to check their journeys ahead of travel as the new timetable comes in - and should buy their tickets in advance online.
