A MOTORCYCLIST was seriously injured after he collided with a crash barrier on the M50 near Ross-on-Wye, the ambulance service has said.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 2.38pm to the M50 between Newent (J3) and Ross-on-Wye (J4), a spokesman said.
He added one ambulance and a paramedic officer were initially sent to the scene to treat one patient, a man, who was the rider of the motorbike for "serious injuries, but not believed to be life-threatening"
The patient was then taken by land ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with a critical care doctor to continue treatment en route to hospital.
Highways England said both lanes on the westbound carriageway remain closed and there is currently no indication of when the road could reopen.
