Sir – An online row has broken out in Worcester after a woman alleged a shopkeeper was profiteering by upping the price of toilet rolls.
I do feel things are getting out of hand, no pun intended.
When I was a boy in rural Warwickshire during the 1950s, my family had no indoor lavatory, and were obliged to walk up the garden path whenever Nature called.
There were no toilet rolls back then and we relied on newspaper, neatly cut into triangles and held by a large hook secured to a wooden beam.
May I suggest we start to adopt the same policy, thus avoiding unseemly arguments, while also displaying that blitz spirit?
Or something that sounds very much like that...
