A MAN arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of an 80-year-old woman remains in police custody.

An investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Studley yesterday (Monday 17 February).

Police were called shortly after 8.20am to a report of the death of an 80-year-old woman inside a property on Allendale Crescent in Studley.

Her next of kin has been informed.

Locally, neighbours spoke of their shock saying they could not believe what had happened and that they were a lovely quiet couple.

Superintendent Suzanne Baker, from Warwickshire Police, said they are working to establish the circumstances of the woman's death, which is currently being treated as murder.

“An 82-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and he is in police custody," she said.

“This is currently being treated as an isolated incident, and it is believed the suspect and the deceased were known to each other."
