BREDON School won Independent School of the Year at the 2019 Worcestershire Education Awards.

The school was recognised for its attitude towards pastoral care and imaginative efforts to enhance the experience of its pupils.

Headmaster Nick Oldham said: “We believe our inspiring approach, wide-ranging curriculum and vast outdoor environment enables all pupils to find an area in which to shine; whether that is in the classroom, on our school farm, Forest School, in Bredon’s CISCO Academy, excelling at playing a musical instrument, out on the sports fields or taking part in outdoor education activities, so it has been fantastic to see our teachers’ and pupils’ hard work recognised with this award.”

The Independent School of the Year Award was presented by Worcester News editor Michael Purton, after our panel of judges had the difficult task of choosing one winner from so many excellent contenders.

Judges were looking for schools which married academic achievement with innovation, imagination and efforts to develop young people in ways that go beyond exam league tables.

Bredon School triumphed despite stiff competition from fellow finalists Gloverspiece Minifarm and King’s St Alban’s.
