FOLK fiddle players gather at the Discovery Centre to enjoy some sociable music making, under the guidance of local fiddle tutor Kitty Greenwood.

“We meet in the cafe at 10.30 am for coffee and a chat, then spend a couple of hours playing traditional tunes, specially arranged for the group in two-and three-part harmony,” said Ms Greenwood.

There will be two more Saturday morning workshops this season, February 8 and March 7, followed by a full day of fiddle playing on March 28.

“After that we’ll be taking a break until the autumn. New members are always welcome - cello and viola as well as violins,” added Ms Greenwood.

The event that is held each month is not aimed at beginners but at people that have some ability to play although they do not need to be highly accomplished.

Players can be men or women of any age but what matters is that they enjoy the pleasure of playing together in a group.

Places need to be booked in advance, contact Kitty Greenwood for full details. www.folkfiddleteacher.co.uk 01584 841564
