RENOVATION work on the Crowngate Shopping Centre has finally finished after six months.

The £1.5 million renovation of the Angel Place entrance of Crowngate Shopping Centre’s Friary Walk was successfully completed on November 1.

The refurbishment of Friary Walk’s Angel Place entrance began in spring and work includes the front elevation façade being updated, while the entryway has been modernised with a framed, glazed structure and all-new doors.

New external signage has been installed, timber cladding to the Vision Express shopfront has been put in place and the windows to the residential apartments have been replaced.

Mike Lloyd, centre manager at Crowngate Shopping Centre said: “We are so pleased with how Angel Place has been refreshed and now presents as we imagined.

“I’m sure that after months of anticipation our regular shoppers will be equally as impressed with how it looks.

"Our hope is that visitors who haven’t been for a while will be keen to return and that newcomers will be intrigued to see what we have beyond our doors.

“Being in the heart of the city means we have a wealth of opportunity to attract and secure new business and the renovation puts us in very good stead for developing our offering."

The completion of the work comes as business leaders voted nearly 85 per cent in favour of another term for the Worcester Business Improvement District (BID).

The results, released on November 1 by Civica Election Services, who conducted the independent ballot on behalf of Worcester City Council, show that 332 businesses cast their vote. 282 businesses voted positively.

Phoebe Dawson, BID CEO, said: “We are beyond delighted with the results of this year’s ballot, which have exceeded expectations and are better than any ballot in the BID’s history.

“The city boasts enviable high street footfall numbers, and new initiatives such as evening food festivals and the pop-up park have been a great boon for the city.

"We are looking forward to continuing this great work, as well as expanding and improving Worcester’s commercial offering."
