THE winners have been revealed in this year’s Tourism Awards for Excellence.
The winners were announced at the awards ceremony on October 29, held at the Chateau Impney in Droitwich.
The awards, sponsored by communications company, Mighty, welcomed more than 80 guests from tourism businesses across Worcestershire ready to celebrate the best in the business across seven different categories.
The event was opened by Sharon Smith, chief executive at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, and James Ashe, managing partner of overall sponsors Mighty.
Mr Ashe said: “It was great to see and meet so many of Worcestershire’s tourism businesses at today’s awards ceremony.
“Being new to the county, it really showed me not only the diverse range of tourism businesses that call the region home, but the passion and pride that the people involved in them have for what they do, but also where they live, too.”
Before enjoying afternoon tea in the chateau, attendees greeted the compère of the day, Hursty, who entertained guests with his larger-than-life personality before beginning the ceremony.
The winners are as follows:
B&B and Guest House of the Year - Sidney House
Best Eating Out Experience - L’amuse Bouche
Camping, Glamping, Self-Catering and Holiday Park of the Year – Hanley Mill Self-Catering Holiday Cottages
Festival & Event of the Year - Droitwich Spa Food & Drink Festival
Hotel of the Year – Stanbrook Abbey Hotel
Pub of the Year - The Fleece Inn, Bretforton
Visitor Attraction of the Year – Little Owl Farm Park
Hursty said: “Having adopted Worcestershire as my new home, it was great to host something that rewards some of the great places to eat, drink and spend free time in the county.
“It was also brilliant to find out about some hidden gems that I’d not heard of that I can now pay a much overdue visit to.”
Emma Wheeler, tourism officer for Visit Worcestershire, said: “I’ve had the privilege of working alongside the wide variety of tourism businesses in the county for over 10 years now, and year upon year the quality of applicants greatly increases.”
