TENBURY shop owner Carole Collier says that women in the town are shedding their underwear in a good cause.

The owner of Smarty Pants in Teme Street says that since launching her bra-bank it has become even more popular with the women of the town.

Under the scheme the women donate the clothing that they no longer need, and it is then collected and sold in order to raise funds that go towards supporting people who have breast cancer.

“When we started this, I had no idea how it was going to go but it really seems to have caught the imagination of people.

“We now have a collection every fortnight and so far, there does not seem to be any slowdown in the number of people who are making donations.”

The scheme has a double benefit because items that might otherwise have found their way to a landfill site can now be recycled so it is also good for the environment.

Ms Collier says that her business continues to do well and is coming up to Christmas which is a particularly busy time of the year.

However, she says that she has found that people buy all of the time including many who visit from outside the area.
