SIR – My experience when I chose to have a second generation smart meter has been nowhere near a smart decision by me.

The installation included the replacement of both my gas meter and electricity meter and the meters installed have no means of being read since the screens are blanked out.

So I have to rely on my smart meter which cannot transmit electric usage information and a gas meter which I cannot read.

So the suppliers sent me my previous estimates before my smart meter was installed, so I am left at the mercy of estimated bills. What a rip off.

They do not respond to my situation only to say they will be in contact, which they don’t. I understand that thousands of people are in the same situation as me.
