A KIDDERMINSTER pub held a family fun day full of fundraising activities in honour of a former landlord.

Sami Wright, aged 32, has recently taken over as manager of the Weary Traveller on Sutton Road, and decided to host a day to raise funds for her grandfather's chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.

The landlady's grandfather, Christopher Connolly, was the landlord of the pub for 12 years, but sadly passed away in July last year at the age of 60.

Sami brought the community together for a day of activities on Saturday, September 26, which included face painting, a snake show, and a disco on the evening.

George Connolly braved a sponsored head shave in support of Macmillan, raising £130.

With help for generous locals, the pub raised a total of £550 on the day.

Landlady Sami Wright said: "The family were all over the moon and we couldn't thank people enough.

"We hadn't seen the pub that busy for years and years.

"It was such a fantastic day and great to raise that amount in such short time.

"We are getting all the regulars back and it's lovely."
