A DRUG dealer who sold high purity crack cocaine and heroin will have to pay back just a fraction of the criminal cash he made from the business.

'County Lines' dealer Shamraz Fazal appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Friday for a proceeds of crime application intended to claw back the illegal cash he made from dealing drugs.

We have previously reported how the 25-year-old, who claimed not to be 'Mr Big', was arrested in Worcester with a large consignment of class A drugs while on bail for dealing drugs in Birmingham.

During the confiscation hearing the benefit figure from his dealing was identified as £16,459. However, the assets he had available were only £3,440 - less than four and half times what he made from the illegal business.

Nicholas Berry, prosecuting, said the cash had already been seized from the defendant and the figures (benefit and assets) were agreed between prosecution and defence.

Judge Robert Juckes QC warned the defendant that if he ever came into funds upon his release from prison he could be pursued for the outstanding amount.

As previously reported, Fazal was found with 70g of heroin and 56g of crack cocaine in his BMW M3 after he was pulled over coming off the M5 at junction 6 in Worcester on Thursday, March 21 this year.

In interview he answered ‘no comment’ and refused to give police the pin code for his iPhone. No values were provided for the Worcester drugs.

Fazal of of Stoneleigh Road, Birmingham, was jailed for five years after he admitted possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and without insurance.

He also admitted possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply, possession of cannabis, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than accordance with a licence in Birmingham on September 3 last year (a separate indictment).

Adam Western, prosecuting, said at the previous hearing that Fazal’s car was seen in the Arboretum (near the court where he was ultimately jailed) and Rainbow Hill in Worcester on March 19 this year.

On March 21 Fazal was arrested as he left the M5 with a consignment of drugs. The drugs were divided into 87 packages (large, medium and small), some of which were found in the door pocket of his BMW. A Nokia phone was seized with 89 contacts on it showing evidence of dealing.

Mr Western said the crack cocaine was 90 per cent purity and the heroin around 60 per cent. Digital scales with traces of heroin and crack on them were found and two further phones and SIM cards during a police search of his home.

In Perry Barr he was found with 37 wraps of crack and 25 of heroin. The crack weighed 3.6g with a value of £370 if sold in £10 deals. The heroin weighed 3.46g with a street value of £250 if sold in £10 deals.

“During the search the defendant was protesting his innocence and accusing police of planting the drugs on him” said Mr Western.
