FANS of the cosmos will be able to indulge their fantasies at a free event.

Visitors will be able to handle meteorites, take a virtual reality walk on another planet, and use a simulator to dock the Soyuz capsule.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member with responsibility for communities, said: “Space Day is traditionally one of the Hive’s most popular events and is an ideal way to round off the Space Chase theme of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

“It really is an event that is out of this world, and one the Hive really looks forward to bringing back every year.”

The event from 10.30am to 4pm, is being held in conjunction with The British Interplanetary Society West Midlands branch, on Saturday,
