STAFF from a county recruitment firm has invested in new technology to help fill vacancies faster.

Workforce Staffing which has branches in Worcester, Kidderminster and Redditch, as well as further afield, says record low unemployment has led to a shortage of people looking for work, and businesses struggling to fill jobs.

With the current climate in mind, Workforce Staffing has taken the decision to invest further in digital application services in order to get the right people into vacant jobs quickly.

The project will be led by newly promoted manager Lucy Cotterill.

In a twin recruitment approach, it will see Workforce’s Kidderminster office become a recruitment centre for interview and selection, with vacancy management, customer service, worker induction and training offered from the firm’s office in Worcester’s Foregate Street.

Lucy, who has been with Workforce for five years, said: “We are constantly reviewing how we work and how we provide our services to meet the changing needs of our clients.

"This means we have to be ahead of those changes and ready to meet them as soon as our clients have vacancies.

"Our Kidderminster and Worcester offices will now focus on different areas but we see huge benefits in the months and years ahead as digitalisation grows.”

The 35-year-old added that growth in the food and supply chain markets is expected to lead to Workforce taking on more staff over the next year.

Trudy Harding, Workforce's quality and compliance director, said: “The labour market has changed dramatically and with unemployment now less than four per cent we have recognised the need to continue to invest in ways that keep our team effective and competitive in the hunt for fresh applications."

“We register more than 50,000 applications annually and with Worcestershire our most prominent area we’ve invested in new technology and advertising campaigns to keep attracting people to vacancies in all the right places.”

Founded in 2003 by brothers Paul and Joe Alekna, Workforce Staffing has grown to employ more than 100 people at its county branches.

And in recent years it has been voted one of the UK's top employers.
