THE Worcestershire Careers Hub has been shortlisted for the ‘Careers Hub of the Year’ award at the Careers Excellence Awards 2019.

Worcestershire Careers Hub has been shortlisted for The Careers & Enterprise Company’s awards and the winners will be announced at the ceremony at the Royal Society of Chemistry, on September 27.

The awards, in partnership with the Gatsby Foundation, shine a light on best practice careers provision preparing young people for success in the world of work.

The awards highlight the work carried out by schools and colleges, businesses, volunteers, Local Enterprise Partnerships and careers providers.

They are an opportunity to showcase the commitment and dedication of the organisations and individuals working in careers provision.

Gary Woodman, chief executive of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “We are thrilled to hear that the Worcestershire Careers Hub has been shortlisted for the Careers Excellence Awards.

"This is a testament to the incredible collaboration of the county’s schools, colleges and businesses to help inspire and create our future workforce.”

Worcestershire’s Careers Hub, developed by Worcestershire LEP in partnership with Worcestershire County Council, is made up of 40 local secondary schools and further education colleges.

The Careers Hub works with employers and career professionals to improve careers education for the county’s young people for the benefit of businesses and the local economy.

Worcestershire’s Careers Hub has access to support and funding to help secondary schools and colleges meet the eight Gatsby Benchmarks of careers education, working towards improved outcomes for young people.

These benchmarks ensure that every young person in Worcestershire aged 13 and over will be exposed to more opportunities and gain a greater understanding of the world of work.

The benchmarks also offer individualised information, advice and guidance around a range of post-16 education offers, from sixth form to technical college to university and apprenticeships, enabling young people to make informed choices about their future.
