A HOUSING developer is investing in a community, funding special facilities.

As part of its commitment to supporting local communities, Taylor Wimpey has put over £230,000 into improving the area around its Plum Tree Walk development in Pershore.

Through contributions agreed as part of the planning permission for Plum Tree Walk, Taylor Wimpey is giving over £150,000 towards off-site sporting facilities in Pershore. Thousands will also be pledged towards the provision of sustainable transport in the town, including £69,000 for improvements to the local highways network and a further £5,000 for cycling infrastructure.

Alongside planning contributions, Taylor Wimpey has supported several community initiatives in the area, such as a £500 donation to Pinvin Primary School’s charity masquerade ball and £500 towards a model Viking longboat at Cherry Orchard First School.

Anne Wallace, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, said: “We’re so proud of the contributions we’ve made towards the local community around Pershore and our Plum Tree Walk development. We are committed not only to providing quality homes, but also to ensuring that we are giving something back to the local communities in which we build. It’s a real privilege to be involved in projects and initiatives around our developments.”

Taylor Wimpey aims to deliver homes that are free of defects by achieving right first time build quality across the business while operating in a safe and environmentally sustainable way.

In 2017 the company started to help its production staff at developments across the West Midlands to further their careers thanks to training programme. The scheme was a learning and development programme, aligned to job levels and career paths, which has been specifically designed to enhance the skills of the company’s site management teams who have responsibility for managing housing developments.

Employees completing the initiative will gain a Taylor Wimpey Production Diploma.
