READING of how a thug 'used a dog as a weapon' in a fight in Worcester was disgraceful.

The idea that someone could take an animal somewhere purely for the purposes of hurting someone is abominable, and the fact that the dog may be put down because of his idiotic and irresponsible owner is heartbreaking.

It is not that dog's fault that the owner forced the dog to attack another person, so why should it have to suffer the consequences?

Animals take the punishment far too often in these situations, when it is the owner who is responsible.

For the defendant, Andrew Cornes, to say that he doesn't want the dog to be put down because "I've had it 10 years" is almost laughable.

If he really did care about the dog, he would never have even considered using it as an attack dog.

Most dogs are not inherently aggressive, and are made to be that way.

If there is any chance the dog's life can be saved, it should be.

Why should animals suffer for the actions of humans?
