PERSHORE Volunteer Centre has kept on the road thanks to Rotary Business Club.

On Thursday, August 1, Alan Tromans, Chairman of Pershore Rotary Business Club presented Eric Wiles, Chairman of Pershore Volunteer Centre, with a cheque for £250 which was raised by the Rotary at this year’s Pershore Carnival.

Pershore Rotary Business Club is a strong supporter of Pershore Volunteer Centre, like all charities the centre is struggling for support and Rotary is pleased to be able to help both now and on an ongoing basis. This is the second year Pershore Rotary Business Club has supported the centre, which has always had a strong connection with the area’s Rotary Clubs.

The Volunteer Centre will utilise the funds to support its minibuses, which are used for the centre’s services supporting the local people who do not have their own transport, including weekly supermarket trips and other social events. The minibuses are also available for hire by other local charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Eric Wiles said “Each of our Minibuses costs us over £4,000 per year just to put them on the road, before a wheel turns. The support of local organisations is vital to the continuation of this essential service. We are very grateful for the continued support of the Rotary Business Club and for their generous donation.”

Alan Tromans said “Pershore Rotary Business Club is a relatively new club in Pershore and is closely linked to Pershore Rotary Seniors Club. We meet 17:15 on the 1st and 3rd Thursday every month at the Angel in Pershore. The main aim of the club is to provide support to those in need in our community whilst offering social and network opportunities to its members.”
