A TEENAGER from the county is starring in a new BBC reality TV series which starts next week.

Erin White, 18, from Shobdon, near Leominster, said she is thrilled to be taking part in the series, called Heartbreak Holiday, which was filmed over five weeks in Greece.

The seven-part series follows 10 young people from different backgrounds as they enjoy the holiday of a lifetime island hopping in Greece.

A film crew followed Miss White and the rest of the group as they enjoyed exclusive yacht parties, a festival and beach parties.

In each episode, the contestants will be joined by a surprise visitor from home who will force them to confront their past and help them move on.

The former Wigmore High School and Hereford College of Arts student is also a past Miss Junior Teen Great Britain and has previously worked with fashion photographers, appearing on several magazine covers.

She said:"This is the most amazing experience and I was so lucky to have this opportunity. I am very excited for the future.

"The experience taught me a lot about myself and I have really matured as a person throughout the whole journey.

"Another amazing thing to have come out of this show has been my unconditional offer of a place at University to study a degree BA (Hons) Television Production based on my filming experiences and potential.

"As I have always been more vocational than academic I was always given the impression by my teachers that I would never go to university.

"Also that I wouldn't go far in life because I wasn't traditionally 'booksmart' and I'm very pleased that I have now proved them all wrong."

Heartbreak Holiday starts on BBC One at 10.35pm on Tuesday (August 20).
