ONLINE shoppers can now donate to the foodbank – by ordering from home and asking the supermarket to deliver it straight to the Worcester depot.
The new scheme was rolled out last week and the first supermarket delivery received included more than 300 items.
Grahame Lucas, manager of the foodbank, said: “The first Tesco delivery we received was an amazingly generous donation of 307 items from charity Give Food.”
“Our strategy is to open as many channels of donations as we can. With this new scheme donations can be made easily and from the comfort of people’s home.”
Mr Lucas added: “It would be wonderful if this took off, it is a brilliant opportunity to better meet the growing demand in Worcester.”
Donors can do their online shop on a supermarket’s website and then have it delivered to the Worcester Foodbank, Unit 7 Lowesmoor Wharf, Worcester WR1 2RS.
Orders will only be accepted if delivered during the Foodbanks opening times, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11am-2pm.
