The Hopmarket will be hosting a month long series of workshops this summer with sessions of free arts and crafts for children of all ages.

The retail space on The Foregate will host the activities, organised by Spare Room Arts for the second year running. The activities are all based on a theme of The Great British Summertime.

Bill Simpson, Trustee at The Hopmarket Charitable Trust said : “We are delighted to be hosting another summer of creative activities and events. The Hopmarket is a great home for them.

Free and open to everyone, we look forward to welcoming lots of families again starting Tuesday 30 July then every Tuesday throughout August.”

Dates and activities are as follows :

Tuesday 30 July – summertime badges, magnets and flags;

Tuesday 6 August – seaside themed bunting, sea crowns and masks;

Tuesday 13 August – kite making and sun visor making workshops;

Tuesday 20 August – sun, sea, sand and seagull puppet making workshop;

Tuesday 27 August – mermaids purses, treasure chests and treasure maps.

All the workshops are free with children and families welcome to stay as long as they wish. Soft play and sand pits will be provided for little children. There will also be a British summertime peep board; those taking part will be encouraged to upload their photos using the #hopmarket.
