Tucked away behind Evesham’s bustling market square, St. Lawrence’s Church is known as a haven of peace and tranquillity.

But this Saturday, July 20, the rafters will be ringing and raised with song when local choir, Musyck Anon, hold their summer concert.

And it will very much be a musical walk beyond Memory Lane to much further back in time.

A spokesman said: “Musyck Anon are a small choir of women and men who sing unaccompanied music that spans the centuries.

“They have recently performed at the Winchombe Festival, No. 8 in Pershore and at the Evesham Festival of Music.”

Highlights of the summer concert will include madrigals by Morley and Weelkes, a cappella part songs by Vaughan Williams and sacred music such as Bruckner’s beautiful motet ‘Locus iste’.

The concert this Saturday starts at 3pm.

Entry is free, but there will be a retiring collection in aid of the Churches Conservation Trust which looks after St. Lawrence’s.
