A STOURPORT man is set to stand trial today for intimidating a witness in a grievous bodily harm case.

Bobby Joe Smith, aged 28, of Mount Pleasant in Stourport, denies two counts of witness intimidation, one against Jon Mongan and another against Charlene Lee on May 8 last year.

Tony Smith, aged 25, of Bryn View, Ebbw Vale, Wales, also denies both counts.

The charges state that despite knowing or believing the two complainants were witnesses in court proceedings, Mongan and Smith made "threatening gestures" which intimidated or were intended to intimidate, "intending thereby to cause the course of justice to be obstructed, perverted or interfered with".

Fellow defendants Henry Smith, aged 31, of High Street, Blaina, in Wales, John Smith, aged 30, of Waterside Park in Warndon, Jim Janes, aged 26, of Larch Road, Worcester, and Samuel Janes, aged 57, of Smite Caravan Site, near Worcester, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday (July 9), where they all denied grievous bodily harm with intent against Jon Mongan at Offerton Lane in Warndon on May 6 last year.

John Smith also denies criminal damage to Mr Mongan's Ford Mondeo on the same day.
