STAFF and parents from a nursery are celebrating after receiving a good Ofsted rating following its previous damning report.

A parent protest took place after Little Lodge Nursery received an inadequate rating following an Ofsted visit which took place on January 31.

Following the report, 31 people had signed a petition to request for another full inspection to take place.

An Ofsted inspector re-visited the nursery in Spetchley, Worcester, on May 14.

To celebrate the report, parents organised a surprise party for the nursery owner, Jane Jones, and her team, on June 7 where more than 45 parents attended the celebratory party.

Chris Husband, a parent from the nursery said: “Since the report had come back it really just backed up what myself and the other parents at Little Lodge always knew and believed in all along, that this nursery is a brilliant place for our children to be.

“We never had any doubt at all in Mrs Jones and her amazing staff team to safeguard, develop and nurture our children."

Mr Husband, from Worcester, added: “The surprise party was rammed. So many parents and their children turned up to support Mrs Jones.

"She took the grading very personally, and also had a very tough few months before the new inspection result came through.”

The Ofsted report states: “The nursery benefits from managers who have worked hard to make rapid improvements since the last inspection. They reflect on their practice and value the ideas of staff and parents to help them provide good-quality care and learning for children.

“Partnership with parents is a real strength of the nursery. Staff share information with them daily and parents are fully involved in their child's learning and development. Comprehensive settling-in sessions, tailored to children's individual needs, provide extremely good support for children and their families.

“Parents comment positively about the quality care and learning that their children receive.”
